Review:The 2005 Chateauneuf du Pape has a dense ruby/purple color, a sweet nose of licorice, pure black cherries, raspberries, and plenty of Provencal herbs and pepper. It is long, rich, has impressive tannins, decent acidity, and a full-bodied mouthfeel. It should drink well for 10-15 years.

This delicious and very forward young Chateauneuf bursts with ripe fruit. Primarily Grenache from very old vines, its complex melange of high- and low-toned aromas leads to a palate of extraordinary concentration and richness. The textbook flavors of garrigue and spice are readily apparent.
