Review:Collosorbo's 2001 Brunello di Montalcino is a gorgeous effort, with an expressive, perfumed nose, and layers of super-ripe red fruit, licorice and mineral nuances that open on the palate with great length and freshness, framed by fine, silky tannins that round out the finish. This sexy, irresistibly appealing Brunello should drink well to age 15. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2016.
Meticulous selection and manual harvest of Sangiovese grapes from Collosorbo's best vineyards ultimately result in the Brunello di Montalcino, soft, rich and immediately enjoyable. The wine is a ruby red color with slight garnet hues resulting from four years of aging; the nose offers an intense and persistent perfume, with notes of red-fruit jam; on the palate the wine is smooth and velvety with evenly balanced tannins, intense and persistent with spicy notes and a hint of liquorice; harmonious and elegant on the whole.
