The Vouvray appellation, located to the east of Tours, covers 5,000 acres of vineyard 150 miles west of Paris. The Chenin Blanc variety thrives on the sunny plateau overlooking the Loire River. Golden yellow. Ripe fruity bouquet (quince, apricot) with overtones of nuts (almond) and acacia flower. Well balanced on the palate, soft with a slightly crisp finish. A straightforward refreshing version of Vouvray Chenin Blanc.
The Hubert Veneau vineyards have been a family estate for several generations. It was taken over by Hubert in the 70s and is now managed by the two sons: Bertrand, 35, and Jérôme, 34. It covers 93.90 acres and produces Pouilly Fumé on 44.48 acres and Côteaux du Génois on 49.42 acres.
The wines of the Veneau brothers are served all around the world and notably at the table of the French Parliament.
