Koonunga Hill is very much a reflection of the Penfolds winemaking style and philosophy. Since the first vintage in 1976 of Koonunga Hill Shiraz Cabernet, the brands reputation has been built on widespread acclaim, including being awarded the 'Great Value Red Wine of the Year' award at the 2001 International WINE Challenge in London. Premium Cabernet Sauvignon grapes from some of South Australia's best vineyards have been selected to maintain this consistent style and quality.

The first release made from grapes grown in a combination of 10 to 40 year old vineyards including David Hickinbotham's 15 year old Clarendon Vineyard. In the nose there are black olives and ripe brambly fruit. In the mouth there is dense plum and mouth-filling dark black cherry supported by subtle oak on the palate.

Woop Woop is a collaboration between Ben Riggs, the winemaker of Penny's Hill, and Tony Parkinson, owner of Penny's Hill. The winery strives to provide rich, ripe wines chock full of Aussie character at an affordable price. Woop Woop is Australian slang for the middle of nowhere in the Outback....what we would call the boonies, as in, "just been to Woop Woop and back." Made from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon sourced from key growing regions in S. Australia. 40% comes from McLaren Vale, 54% comes from Langhorne Creek with the balance coming from other areas of the Fleurieu Peninsula.
