Penfolds Bin 389 Cabernet Shiraz has earned a reputation among wine consumers and collectors as an Australian classic. With all its ripe fruit, richness and generosity, the wine has been much loved over several generations of wine drinkers.
Here is the first release of Boarding Pass Shiraz from Grateful Palate Airways, made from 100% Shiraz grapes grown on 10 to 15 year old vines from some of the best regions of South Australia including Kangarilla, Blewitt Springs and Kalimna. The wine is a lively, dense, ruby red in color. It has intensely perfumed fruit characters and is brambly with ripe black cherry. There are slight hints of cinnamon spiciness & light mocha. The juicy, fleshy palate finishes with ripe tannins.
An animated and bright nose showing flashes of black pepper and stone fruits. Rich and full bodied on the palate with flavours of blackcurrant, anise and mixed spice. The palate is multilayered and finishes with supple tannin.
Full flavored and generous, the palate exhibits an array of fruit flavors that persist over the whole length of the palate, finishing with a twist of lime. The slightly phenolic backbone provides structure and mouthfeel, which is balanced with zingy crisp acidity.
