Koonunga Hill Cabernet Merlot is a multi-district blend drawing fruit from several vineyards in South Australia including McLaren Vale, Barossa Valley, Padthaway, Langhorne Creek and Coonawarra. It is a full flavored but fruit driven wine, in contrast to the maturation style of the Shiraz Cabernet (which was first released in 1976). The Cabernet Merlot is an earlier drinking wine, which emphasises the clear, bright, fruit characters and fine grained tannins of Cabernet Sauvignon as well as the plummy flavors of Merlot.
