“This is a bolder, more complex Scion than past vintages. High notes of spice and plum are rounded out by earthy, dark cherry flavors. The structured finish is smooth and bright with light tannins. This is a memorable wine that will be drinkable for the next 8 years.” - Kevin Warren, winemaker
The 2002 Martha’s Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon is a magnificent wine, classic in style, and showing immense power balanced with lush, sweet tannins. The elegant structure of this wine is a compliment to the purity of the varietal fruit from Martha’s Vineyard and a lovely reflection of its Oakville appellation. You are immediately drawn to the celebrated minty aroma of this Cabernet and swept away by the authenticity of its taste --- a mingling of velvety chocolate with ripe berries.
Dark purple hues. Some floral notes on the nose—extremely youthful! A cousin to the 2002, with more acidity. A nice bracing character—good acid, yet juicy, making you want more. Ripe wild raspberries, cinnamon, ginger, Christmas spice, mocha, white pepper, bitter chocolate, bacon, mint. Ripe, prominent tannins. Nicely integrated oak. Medium bodied with a medium-long finish. Pretty, expressive, elegant. May outlast the 2002 as it is not as ripe. Great structure. Exciting.
The 2002 Viader showcases the best the vintage has to offer: intense, upfront, concentrated dark fruit notes laced with licorice, chocolate, anise, earth and leather. Lingering, complex tannins firm up in the finish which is rounded by powerful floral aromas of blackberry, blueberry and mint. Although quite approachable now bottle aging will further develop bouquet and complexity.
A perennial favorite on restaurant wine lists, ARTEMIS is generous in flavor and velvety in texture. Aromas of cassis and caramel rise and give way to earthy notes of black olive, black pepper, and truffles. Classic flavors of cassis and black cherry fill the mouth as notes of violets and vanilla linger on the finish. Enjoy this wine with braised short ribs on a cold winter’s night or with a porcini and gorgonzola burger for you gourmet grillers.
Heady pure fruit aromas of dark red fruit, black plum, black cherry and mocha leap from the glass of this classic Cabernet Sauvignon and lead into layers of warm baking spices and anise. The palate is full of rich fruit supported by supple tannins that are long and fine. An opulent Cabernet Sauvignon with powerful structure and intensity that underscores why this varietal is one of the major pursuits at Etude.
