Cortonesi’s 2001 Brunello di Montalcino is an intense effort packed with super-ripe vibrant dark fruit in a rich, concentrated style with outstanding persistence on the palate and great overall balance, although it finishes a bit hot. Today the tannins are a bit prominent but a few years of cellaring should do the trick. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2018. Wine Advocate
